Offers, counter offers, and {possible} acceptance oh my! Can you believe it?! We put in an offer on a house in California and the sellers have countered back, and we've now countered the counter offer {say that 5 times fast!} We didn't change much in our counter to their counter, just asked that they pay closing costs.
Lane and I have been spending every waking moment looking at houses online. We've looked at turnkey properties, short sale properties, foreclosures, and all kinds of places! We decided that we don't want to move into a rental in order to wait around for a foreclosed house or a short sale and live our lives in the unknown, so we scratched those homes. We also decided that we wanted a turnkey property because there's no reason for us to get into a house and try to remodel or clean someone elses junk or paint every room. Especially since we were able to find {a few} homes within our budget in nice areas that are move in ready.
Lane saw 4 houses when he got to California on Sunday and immediately said no to 2 of the homes for different reasons. One of the final 2 houses we decided to cut out of our list based on the price and the fees associated with the home. The family that we're hoping to buy from are the parents of a Marine and they've kept the house in good condition. Lane and I are trying not to get our hopes up about this house but we're very excited about the opportunity. I mean, who wouldn't be excited about a well-kept home with storage space and a hot tub?! We're going to keep our fingers crossed and our prayers going for the right thing to happen for our family as we plan on moving to California!

Grateful
I have been single-parenting for the last 2 days. Lane went out of town for SERE school and so Eden and I have been on our own for a few days now. He left early Sunday morning {so I guess I've technically been doing the single-parent gig for 3 days!} and Eden and I are surviving!
Sunday we went to church and then went to a baby shower. I was super nervous about our first day together alone. I know I can do it, I've done it before, but I was nervous for some reason! Crazy, I know, but welcome to my over-emotional state of mind.
Monday Eden and I went to a playgroup at Celebration Nation. It is this fabulous indoor playground with great outlets for little ones with energy. This week the place decided to change their hours because they haven't had much morning traffic through the place with school being back in session. We didn't look into their hours because we had been regulars at Celebration Nation for a few months now. Oops! We should have looked into their hours because they now open at noon and we thought they opened at 10. Luckily the owners were there and because we had a group of moms showing up, they were willing to let us play.
Today I took Eden to story time at a local library. We had been going to Barnes and Noble, but it just wasn't keeping Eden's attention anymore, so we decided to try out the library. {I'm not going to lie, I don't think I've set foot in a public library since elementary or middle school} This story time was GREAT! They sang songs - some of Eden's favorites {Twinkle, Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes} and some songs that I had forgotten even existed {I'm a Little Teapot!} - and they read two books about fall, and then they got stamps and were able to play with blocks.
Each event we've been to since Lane has been gone we've enjoyed with friends. Eden is learning her friends' names here in Texas and she is starting to ask about them when we leave events or when we head out to do things. Its exciting to see her "making" friends! She's growing up and becoming such a big girl, it blows my mind. She's everything I could ever dream about in a child. She loves giving hugs, she's {for the most part} good at listening to us and sharing toys with friends, and she enjoys helping out around the house {emptying the dishwasher, calling the dogs in from outside, feeding the dogs, changing laundry over, taking her cup to the dinner table at meal time, anything!}
So, this whole, long post, just to say that I'm grateful for Eden and everything she is in our lives! I was nervous about being home alone with her, but she's eased my fears and reassured me by showing me that she's great.

No Distractions!
I know, I should be sad that Lane is gone, and I should be moping, right? Not this girl. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do wish he was here with us, but since he's not I'm going to get things done!
When we move to California we're putting Eden in a twin bed {I can't believe it! She's not big enough!} The only problem with the bed she's getting is that its a cream colored rod iron day bed. Though it's pretty, it isn't what I'm looking for for her bed. So I'm going to spray paint it! {Have no fear, I looked into painting while pregnant...I'm allowed to do it!} The bed will match her height tracker that I made for her room earlier in our stay here in Texas. It's going to have the colored dots and everything...just kind of different!
For now all I've done is sand the pieces of the bed and put one coat of primer on it. That means I have a few more coats of primer and then I have to paint it too! Good news is that its finally cooling down here {never thought 85 would be cooling down!} and the breeze makes everything bearable for being outside for this project! I can't wait to see it finished. It will be my first big project that I've done on my own!

Oh, the life
Life has been so busy recently. Lane had last week off, so we were able to spend lots of quality, family time together. Even if we were just at Target or grocery shopping! Life was good. Now, its back to the grind, Lane's working again and Eden and I are fending for ourselves. I've got a few pictures to share with you, but most pictures have been taken on our phones this past week, so you have to deal with just a few from the camera and I'll {try to} remember to post pictures from our phones later!

"Tee Dee"
Yes, Eden occasionally - alright, every day - asks to watch tv. I hate it. I don't like for her to watch tv so much. I want her to play with her toys and color and read and do all that kind of fun stuff. Anyways, today simply watching tv wasn't good enough. She specifically asked for "gabba" which is her favorite show {and always has been}
These characters haunt my dreams at night! The songs haunt my days as I find myself singing them...when Eden isn't even around! {"There's a party in my tummy...so yummy, so yummy!"} Though the show's characters are odd looking to me and DJ Lance Rock is silly looking in his orange skin tight jumpsuit, the show does teach some good messages.

18 Weeks
Today I went to my every-four-weeks doctors appointment. Because Lane hasn't left for SERE school yet and he basically has the week off he was able to go with Eden and I and we made a family event out of it. It was nice to have him there since he hadn't been able to make it to any of the appointments before today because of his work schedule.
The doctor was happy with everything she heard and measured. The baby was kicking and moving as she listened to the heartbeat. The baby's heartbeat came in at a whopping 138 {much lower than what Eden's heart rate was} Does this mean it'll be a boy?! Who knows! We'll just have to see what that ever-so-important ultrasound says in a few weeks.
My due date is still up for question - February 27 or March 5 - and the doctor is sticking to the 27th. I, however, tell people that I'm due on the 5th. Based on the doctor's due date, this was my 18 week appointment, but according to me, this was my 17 week appointment. I guess we'll get things settled down and figured out more concretely when I get to California and meet my doctor who will deliver Baby #2.

Come and Gone
It's official...we're all alone. But we're all alone as THREE for at least a week!!! All of our family has left town to head home, and the visit was much too short {but isn't it always?!} Eden woke up from her nap today asking for Mimi, Gamma {Grandma} and whoever else she didn't see when we came downstairs. She loved having her cousin here to play with, and she got lots of love and hugs and kisses from lots of family!
It will take a few days for her to adjust to the quiet house I'm sure, but hopefully we'll all get caught up on some lost sleep in those few days! We never did stay up too late, or get up too early, but we were always going or trying to figure out our next meal, so I'm tired for sure. I napped today while Eden did and it was a fabulous nap if I do say so myself. I hope family is able to catch up on some z's as they get home and settled in.
Now the time comes for us to sit and wait to get orders to move to California {I feel like we just went through this to get to Texas!} We're supposed to be there before December and I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't take that long to get the orders. There's much more to do in San Diego than here in Corpus Christi - and let's face it, fall is upon us and we had a heat index of 103 yesterday. Not quite the fall I was hoping for!
