A Day at the Beach

I hate to admit this, but I haven't been to the Pacific Ocean since we've lived on the west coast. I was glad that the one thing my mom wanted to do when they were out here was go to the beach. The first 3 days there was nothing but rain and cold weather. It was slightly depressing knowing that they were looking forward to the sunny SoCal weather and they weren't getting it. We actually had to go out and buy pants for my dad because he only packed one pair of pants, the rest of what he packed was shorts! When its in the low 40s, shorts just don't cut it.

The weather finally worked out in our favor and luckily Lane was off work for the afternoon. I was glad that things worked out so well and we were all able to go to the beach together. The afternoon was great and I thought the ocean was beautiful.
Not only is this just a picture of the beautiful beach, but Eden and Lane are actually in the picture too! They went down the steep slope and the rest of us took the conservative route.
Eden was SO excited about being at the beach.
Dancing in the water.
Feeling the freezing cold water with Daddy.
Trying to get a family picture.
Still trying...
The best one we got, but still not great. We'll take what we can get!

3 Weeks Old

Oh wow how time flies! Hunter is already 3 weeks old and I think he's starting to get the hang of life outside the womb. He's got his days and nights figured out, but he's also figured out that he likes to be held. I guess that was a given since Mimi and Pop are here and Grandma and Grandpa get here next week! Hunter is still putting up with his sister and she loves to "make him happy" whenever he's crying - and sometimes when he's not crying! He still doesn't cry much, he's more of a grunter. He will let out a wail if you ignore his grunts long enough, but usually just one wail before he goes back to grunting. {Beware...Hunter was not in the mood for pictures this week and didn't cooperate as well as he has been! But he did make sure to dress for the occasion.}

Eden wanted in on the action, but didn't want to smile for me. Good thing they're both cute since neither one cooperated!

Fun

Ear piercing fun to be exact! We had planned on getting Eden's ears pierced for her birthday, but had to put it off because of her being sick. Because we put it off we were able to get them done while Mimi and Pop were in town. She was excited to get them done, but I'm not sure she realized what was ahead of her. I know the anxiety that I felt before {and during...and after} was extreme. My heart was racing and I almost cried when she realized the pain that was involved with an ear piercing.

As we left the mall, Lane said she looked like a little delicate girl. We had originally talked about doing different sports with Eden. Now, Lane said he can't see her as a sports girl, that he can only see her doing ballet and different delicate hobbies. I thought it was funny that he said that because he's always the one that's talked about her not being a girly girl. He has said from day one that he was going to take her out hunting and that he was going to make sure she did all the "boy things" that there are to do so that she is well rounded!
Looking at the options with Mommy.
Picking out which earrings she wants.
Getting all marked up and ready for the piercing.
Piercing guns ready, Pop holding her head steady so they could do both at the same time.
This is when she realized that there was pain involved. And when Mommy realized that taking her to get her shots was easier than taking her to get her ears pierced.
Oh my goodness, I couldn't take it. This was so hard to look at!
Trying to remind her that they promised her a surprise after getting her ears pierced.
We brought the duck with us to comfort her.
Getting her ears cleaned for the first time so Mommy could learn how to do it right when we had to do it on our own.
Looking at her sucker with her tears all dried up.
Everything is better when you have a sticker and a sucker!
So pretty! We decided to get the March birthstone for her - aquamarine.

Party Time!

Saturday we got to celebrate Eden's birthday with a few friends. We had an ice cream themed party. We don't ever have much rain in California where we are, but it rained all day Saturday and most of the day on Sunday. Of course it did, I wanted to have a bounce house that we borrowed from a friend in the backyard during the party and couldn't. We had tons of fun and we were able to enjoy some time with our friends in the area.

A party on St. Patrick's Day means that everyone gets to get dressed up, even Hunter!

Cael shaking the bag of ingredients to make ice cream in a baggie! It actually worked, I was excited about that.
Eden getting her shake on!
Megan helping me get more bags ready for the kids to shake.

Motherhood is...{11}

Love and Understanding
Eden absolutely loves being a big sister. Hunter understands that she loves him and just let's it be. She hasn't lost interest in holding or loving on him. I can't get enough of the two of them together. They are awesome together.

A Day Late

I've been so good about making sure to update my pictures on Saturdays, but this week I let it slip! Mimi and Pop got in late Friday night and then yesterday we had Eden's birthday party and I totally lost track of time. Without anymore hesitation, here are your weekly pictures!
March 8 - Are we going to have a thumb sucker?! Oh, I hope not.
March 9 - Eden used her pipe cleaners to make "sayas" {sunglasses}
March 10 - Sometimes the only way to get things done around the house {and go shopping} is to put him in our carrier.
March 11 - What a cute little stretchy face!
March 12 - I couldn't get over how blonde he looked after having a bath.
March 13 - Eden's new kitchen stuff from her Aunt Sara.
March 14 - Laying in his pack-n-play. I just love his shirt!
March 14 - She loves her strawberries! She also loves raspberries.
March 15 - There are moments when I wish they didn't say "Back is Best" because he loves sleeping on his belly.
March 16 - Again, on his belly and sucking his thumb.
March 17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day!
