Life in the Daigle home is crazy these days with Lane having a rather random flight schedule {and a deployment right around the corner} and Eden, Hunter, and me at home together. There's never a dull moment! Come see how we live life day to day - or week to week - or month to month - depending on how often I get around to sitting at the computer!

Promotion Day
July 1 marked the day that Lane's promotion kicked in. That was a Sunday, so the ceremony was going to be on the 2nd. This was a big bummer because Lane's family had just left on Saturday and my family was coming in on Tuesday. Everyone was just barely missing this. Since there's no way to move the promotion up, he requested that it be moved back in order for someone to be able to take part in the ceremony with us. On Friday, July 6, I packed the car up with the kids and Mimi and Pop to go down to base to have Lane's ceremony for his promotion to Captain. It was a short ceremony, but his study partner through the ATU {his simulator training before being able to fly the actual plane} was able to conduct the ceremony. This was really neat because Lane and Andy became friends through the ATU and Andy is somewhat of a mentor to Lane as he learns the ropes of being in the "real" Marine Corps instead of flight school.
Beach Day
We've tried to take all visitors to the beach, and Jeanine and Chantelle weren't an exception! The one thing we did differently was we took them and we were prepared this trip. We let Eden take a bathing suit and we took some towels with us. The waster was still just as cold as ever, but Eden didn't care!

Romantic
Not with the kids, but with your spouse! Ah, a night alone with the hubby after a day filled with wine tasting in the wine country in Temecula, CA! Could life get any better? We haven't had a night alone since Eden was born. We've never left the kid{s} over night with anyone. I was anxious in the beginning, but I knew I would quickly be at ease. We were only an hour from home, there was plenty of milk in the freezer for Hunter, and Eden had her Mimi and Pop. Who could ask for more? Lane and I got to go and enjoy time together without worrying about which kid would wake up when and who would need a snack or milk or anything else. We got to be us - which is how our little family started. I told him that because we love each other is why we can love our kids. We started out as a small family of 2 and we have grown to be a family of 4, so we need to remind ourselves of that every now and then and take time for just the 2 of us.

Being Mean
Well, maybe not being mean all the time. Just when it's needed! We had an electrician come out to the house to look at a few projects that we want to get done and Eden took it upon herself to do as she pleased because Mommy and Daddy were both preoccupied. When I peeked into her toy room she had begun coloring on the walls. This isn't the first time she's done this, but it was the first time she had been caught while doing this. Since she was caught she was also punished for this. I made her clean the walls - which was fun to begin with. Then she realized it was going to take some elbow grease and she was no longer interested in doing this. I knew it was going to take all day to get her to clean the wall like it needed to be, so once she wasn't being very productive I decided that timeout while I cleaned the wall was a better ending to this debacle. I made her sit and watch me clean the wall where she had colored and timeout wasn't over until I was done. I also let her know that if she colored on the walls again that I was going to put her crayons in the trash. So there you have it, motherhood is being mean...and that's one part of motherhood that I don't like!

18 Week Old Pictures
Here are the promised pictures from last week of Hunter! He's getting pretty hard to capture on camera because he makes many many faces and doesn't sit still anymore!

18 Weeks Old
Since I don't have the ability to update Hunter's pictures right now, I'll do that later, but he's doing some fun things so I want to tell you about them. He's finding his voice and squealing about everything. Occasionally if you aren't looking at him you could think that he's mad about something but really, he's smiling and loving life. He also rolled from back to belly yesterday. Of course no one saw him do it, we just saw him on his belly when he had been on his back before. And no, he still won't roll belly to back when anyone is around. Stubborn kids! We've been getting more and more belly laughs from him these days. He loves to be startled and he loves when someone says "boo" or "bugga boo" to him. He's also started laughing if I come at him saying "imma getcha!" We are still falling in love with him more and more and Eden loves that he's interacting with her more {on a good day of course!} There are days that she's in her moods and telling him to stop crying and to stop looking at whatever he might be looking at just because she can. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen! Most days she loves him and is sweet to him and he just gazes at her with loving eyes.
Missing
I know I've been missing all week and I'm supposed to post my week of pictures today and my motherhood post tomorrow. Well, I have the best excuse {along with the worst one too} about why everything will be late. First off, Mimi and Pop got here on Tuesday and I drove to LA to get them. Wednesday was the 4th of July and we went to a friends' house for a shrimp boil. Thursday we went to the safari park with Mimi, Pop, and Daddy because Lane still hadn't ever had the chance to go with us and see Eden in love with all the animals. Next came Friday and we went to base to celebrate Lane's promotion to Captain. And best yet, lane and I are currently in the car on our way to our first ever {since kids} over night date night! Yes, we left the kids with Mimi and Pop and we're going to go on a wine tour by day and a casino by night before heading home to the rest of the family. I'm more than excited about this tonight, but I'm just as anxious about leaving the kids. I'm equipped with my ump and Mimi and Pop are equipped with plenty of frozen pumped milk. The bad excuse for being late with all of my posts? I thought I was going to be able to update from the car {which I obviously can} but I forgot the adapter to be able to put pictures on the iPad so they could go on the blog. Boo. I'm sad, but I have other things to worry about...like which wine I'm going to bring home for Mimi for her birthday present and how much money I'm willing to drop into the slot machines before calling it a night! I've never been to a casino before! So, there you have it, I've been MIA again, but it's all for good reason! Oh...and my kitchen cabinets are being redone by yours truly and Mimi in the midst of all the other madness too! Yay!!!
